Job offer on the table? Flip between monthly PKR salary and hourly rate — built for Pakistan's 48-hour work week, with freelancer examples.
Pakistan's standard work week under labour law is 48 hours (6 days × 8 hours) — not the 40-hour week most foreign calculators assume. That's why this calculator defaults to 48 hours: at the same monthly salary, a 48-hour week gives a lower hourly rate than a 40-hour week. If your office runs 5 days (40–45 hours), adjust the "hours per week" input to match your reality.
On Upwork or Fiverr, clients think hourly while you think monthly. Convert your target: hourly = monthly × 12 ÷ (48 × 52).
| Target monthly income | Equivalent hourly rate (48h week) |
|---|---|
| Rs 100,000 | Rs 481/hour |
| Rs 200,000 | Rs 962/hour |
| Rs 300,000 | Rs 1,442/hour |
Freelancer rule of thumb: charge 30–50% above your equivalent rate. You get no EOBI, no gratuity, no paid leave — and client work is never a full 48 billable hours a week. If Rs 200,000/month is the goal, quote around Rs 1,250–1,450/hour, not Rs 962.
Hourly and salaried roles aren't directly comparable on pay alone. Salaried jobs in Pakistan often bundle EOBI contributions, gratuity, paid leave and annual increments — worth 20–30% on top of base pay. An hourly role at Rs 1,500/hour with no benefits can be worth less than a Rs 120,000/month salary with full benefits. Also factor overtime: hourly workers may earn double for overtime under labour law; salaried workers get… more work.
| Hourly | Annual |
|---|---|
| Rs 500 | Rs 1,248,000 |
| Rs 1,000 | Rs 2,496,000 |
| Rs 1,500 | Rs 3,744,000 |
| Rs 2,000 | Rs 4,992,000 |
| Rs 3,000 | Rs 7,488,000 |
| Rs 5,000 | Rs 12,480,000 |
Divide annual salary by (hours per week × weeks worked per year). In Pakistan: Rs 1,200,000 ÷ (48 × 52) = Rs 480.77/hour.
Multiply hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year. Rs 1,500 × 48 × 52 = Rs 3,744,000/year.
Rs 1,248,000 per year at 48 hours/week, 52 weeks/year — before taxes and deductions.
